Secure Website Hosting: 8 Layers That Protect Every Site You Build with AI

Secure website hosting is built in on AI Codes It: isolated sites, DDoS protection, encrypted connections end to end, private files that are never served, and custom domains that keep your email working. Here is how each layer protects you.

Choosing secure website hosting used to mean comparing server specs, firewall add-ons and SSL plans. When you build with AI, the question changes. Your site is generated, previewed, published and updated in minutes, so security has to be part of the platform itself, not a box you tick later.

Over the last weeks we reviewed and strengthened every layer between your visitors and your code. This article explains, in plain language, what now protects each site published on AI Codes It. We describe what each layer does for you, not the internal details. Publishing exact configurations would only make an attacker’s job easier.

Why secure website hosting matters more for AI-built sites

AI website builders change who publishes on the web. People who have never configured a server can now launch a shop, a booking page or a SaaS landing page in an afternoon. That is great news, but it also means most of them will never read a security checklist.

Attackers know this. Automated bots scan the internet around the clock, looking for exposed files, outdated software and servers they can reach directly. They do not care whether a site belongs to a large company or a bakery. If a weakness can be found automatically, it will be found.

That is why we treat security as the platform’s job. You focus on your idea; the hosting underneath has to be safe by default, without settings you might forget.

What a typical small site is up against

  • Traffic floods (DDoS): huge volumes of fake requests meant to knock a site offline.
  • File snooping: bots requesting hidden files such as configuration notes, backups or version-control folders.
  • Server takeover attempts: exploiting one weak site to reach others on the same machine.
  • Stolen credentials: guessing or reusing passwords to log into infrastructure.
  • Interception: reading or changing data on its way between visitors and the server.

The OWASP Top 10 is a good overview of the most common web application risks if you want to dig deeper. The layers below are how our secure website hosting answers them.

Layer 1: every site runs in its own isolated space

On many cheap hosting plans, hundreds of websites share one server and one set of permissions. If one site is compromised, the attacker may be able to read or change the others.

On AI Codes It, each published site runs in its own isolated container. It can only see its own files. It cannot read other users’ projects, and it has no access to the platform’s internal services. Even if a piece of code inside a site misbehaves, it stays locked inside that site’s space.

On top of that, published sites run with an extra sandboxing layer between the site and the server’s operating system, and with strict limits on memory, processing time and the number of processes. A site that suddenly goes wild cannot slow down everyone else.

The principle behind it: least privilege

Security engineers call this the principle of least privilege: every component gets only the access it truly needs, nothing more. A website needs to serve pages. It does not need to read platform secrets, open internal ports or change other projects, so it simply cannot.

  • Sites run without administrator rights.
  • Their system files are read-only.
  • They receive no platform passwords or keys in their environment.
  • Their network access is separated from the platform’s internal network.

Layer 2: DDoS protection and a hidden origin

Every site on our platform sits behind Cloudflare’s global network, one of the largest DDoS protection networks in the world. Traffic floods are absorbed at the edge, close to where they start, long before they reach your site.

Just as important: our servers only accept web traffic that comes through that protection layer. Someone who tries to bypass it and talk to the servers directly is turned away. This closes a gap many self-hosted sites leave open, where the protection exists but can be skipped.

For you, this means a sudden traffic spike or an attack against another site does not take your site down with it.

The same network also caches static files such as images, stylesheets and scripts close to your visitors. Security and speed come from the same place here: requests that never need to reach our servers are answered faster, and they cannot be used against them either. Your visitors notice a quick site; attackers notice a wall.

Layer 3: encryption from the visitor all the way to your site

Most people know the padlock in the browser: HTTPS encrypts the connection between a visitor and the website. What many hosts do not tell you is what happens after that first hop.

With secure website hosting on AI Codes It, the connection is encrypted on every hop, and the certificate on our side is verified, not just accepted. That rules out a whole class of interception attacks between the protection network and our servers.

  • Automatic certificates: every site and custom domain gets a trusted certificate from Let’s Encrypt, renewed automatically.
  • HTTPS only: plain HTTP requests are redirected to the secure version.
  • Modern encryption: outdated, weak protocol versions are switched off.

You never have to buy, install or renew an SSL certificate yourself.

Layer 4: private files stay private

A surprising number of website breaches start with something simple: a file that was never meant to be public. Configuration notes, backup copies, hidden folders from version control or server-side code that ended up downloadable.

When an AI builds your project, it may create helper files along the way, such as notes about your database structure or code for server-side functions. These are useful while building, but they must never be visible to the world.

Our hosting blocks these automatically on every published site and preview:

  • hidden files and folders (for example version-control data and environment files),
  • server-side function code,
  • AI notes and documentation files,
  • editor backups and temporary copies.

Visitors get a normal “not found” page instead. Your pages, images, styles and scripts keep working exactly as before.

Layer 5: secrets never reach your site’s code

Every platform holds sensitive keys: payment providers, email services, databases. On a poorly designed platform those keys can leak into the environment where user code runs, and from there into the wrong hands.

On AI Codes It, sites, previews, builds and AI tools receive only a short, explicit list of harmless settings. Platform keys are never passed along. Your own project secrets, such as your database login, are scoped to your project only and stored where other projects cannot reach them.

Each project also gets its own database login, limited to its own data. One project cannot read another project’s tables.

Builds and previews are isolated too

Installing packages and building a modern app means running scripts written by third parties. We run those steps in throwaway, isolated environments that disappear when the build finishes. Live previews in the editor run in their own containers as well, so experimenting with a new library never puts the platform or other users at risk.

Layer 6: AI tools that can’t be turned against you

Our AI agent can run commands, read files, browse the web and even connect to your own servers over SSH. Powerful tools need careful boundaries.

  • Sandboxed commands: commands the AI runs execute in a restricted sandbox with tight limits, not on the server itself.
  • Safe web fetching: when the AI fetches a web page with its fetch tool, it can only reach the public internet, never internal addresses.
  • SSH to your servers only: the SSH tool connects to the servers you provide, with password or key as you prefer. It cannot be pointed at the platform’s own infrastructure, and it remembers each server’s identity so a changed fingerprint is flagged before anything is sent.
  • No platform keys in the terminal: the in-editor terminal has no access to platform credentials.

If you want to understand how the agent decides what to do, our article on how the pipeline editor works walks through it step by step.

Layer 7: custom domains with protection and your email intact

Connecting your own domain should not mean giving up security, and it should not break your email. With our secure website hosting, connecting a domain works through nameservers:

  1. Enter your domain in the project’s Domain Settings and save.
  2. Copy the two nameservers shown in the editor.
  3. Replace the nameservers at your domain registrar with those two.

That is all. Behind the scenes, your existing records, such as email, are copied over automatically, so your inbox keeps working. Your domain gets the same DDoS protection, encrypted connections and automatic certificates as every other site on the platform, and both yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com work.

Once the domain is live, your project’s other addresses permanently redirect to it, so search engines see one address and your rankings are not split.

Layer 8: updates, monitoring and hardened access

Software ages. New vulnerabilities are found every month, sometimes in the very foundations of the web, as the recent PHP security vulnerability PHP2Shell showed. Secure website hosting means patching quickly, not just once.

  • Fast patching: security updates for the operating system and runtimes are applied promptly, and critical advisories are handled with priority.
  • Hardened administration: access to our infrastructure uses keys rather than passwords, and repeated failed logins are blocked automatically.
  • Regular verification: we run repeatable checks against every layer described here, so a protection that quietly stopped working gets noticed.
  • Least exposure: internal services listen only where they are needed and are not reachable from the internet.

How the layers of secure website hosting work together

No single protection is perfect. A certificate does not stop a traffic flood, and a firewall does not stop a leaked file. That is why secure website hosting relies on defense in depth: several independent layers, each covering the gaps of the others.

Imagine a site that includes an outdated JavaScript library with a known flaw. On a shared server, an attacker who abuses that flaw might move on to the server and then to every other site on it. On our platform, the same flaw stays contained:

  • the site cannot see other projects, because it is isolated;
  • it holds no platform keys, so there is nothing valuable to steal from its environment;
  • its network is separated from internal services, so it cannot be used as a stepping stone;
  • its system files are read-only, so the attacker cannot plant tools that survive a restart.

Every layer is a reason an attack stops early instead of spreading.

If something goes wrong

Good security also plans for the day something slips through. Each time you publish, your site is built from a clean copy of your project, so a published site never quietly accumulates changes nobody asked for.

Your project also keeps a full version history in the editor. If you ever spot something you did not intend, such as a change the AI made or a page you no longer want, you can look back through the history and restore an earlier version in a couple of clicks, then publish again.

On our side, isolation means we can take a single misbehaving site offline without touching anyone else, investigate calmly and bring it back clean.

What you can still do: a short checklist

Secure website hosting covers the infrastructure. A few habits on your side make your site even safer:

  1. Use a strong, unique password for your AI Codes It account and your domain registrar. A password manager makes this painless.
  2. Protect your registrar account. Whoever controls your domain controls where it points. Turn on two-factor authentication there if it is offered.
  3. Keep secrets in project secrets, never pasted into page code or chat messages. Anything inside your pages can be read by visitors.
  4. Review what you publish. If the AI added a test page, sample data or an admin screen you do not need, remove it before going live.
  5. Be careful with forms. Only collect the data you really need, and never ask visitors for passwords or card numbers on pages you built yourself; use proper payment providers instead.
  6. Move nameservers before removing a domain. If you disconnect a domain you still use for email, point its nameservers elsewhere first. The editor reminds you of this.

Why we don’t publish every technical detail

You might wonder why this article describes what each layer does, but not exactly how it is configured. That is deliberate. Security through transparency is valuable when it helps users make decisions. Publishing exact settings, software versions or internal layouts mostly helps attackers plan.

So we share the guarantees that matter to you, and we keep the blueprints private. If you are a security researcher and believe you have found a problem, please contact us privately before publishing anything, and we will work with you to fix it.

Frequently asked questions

Is secure website hosting included on every plan?
Yes. Isolation, DDoS protection, encrypted connections and the file protections apply to every site published on AI Codes It, whatever your plan. Custom domains are available on the Basic, Pro and Max plans.

Do I need to configure a firewall or SSL certificate?
No. Both are handled by the platform automatically.

Will connecting my domain break my email?
No. When you connect a domain, its existing records, including email, are copied over before anything changes. Your inbox keeps working after you switch nameservers.

Can the AI agent access other people’s projects?
No. The agent works inside your project only, its commands run in a sandbox, and it has no access to platform credentials or other users’ data.

Is any hosting completely unhackable?
No honest provider can promise that. What we can promise is defense in depth: several independent layers, so that a single mistake or a single new vulnerability does not expose your site or your visitors.

Conclusion: secure website hosting should be the default

Building with AI makes publishing fast. Our job is to make sure fast does not mean fragile. Every site on AI Codes It now runs isolated, behind DDoS protection, encrypted end to end, with private files blocked, platform secrets out of reach and custom domains that keep your email intact.
